Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Smart Plan is a nationwide home emergency provider, with 15,000+ customers that have put their trust into us to keep their house a home. Smart Plan is a service plan, not insurance.
We work with a national network of thousands of vetted engineers and tradespeople across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including Gas Safe registered engineers for gas and boiler work.
We specialise in customized plans that ensure that customers are not paying for parts of plans that they do not use. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all, you should get to choose what you do and don't want!
We aim to get an engineer out to you within two working days of you telling us about your breakdown or issue. Cover-plan call-outs are booked Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00.
With Smart Plan, you only pay for the parts of the plan that you want to add. We specialise in fully customised plans that put you in the driving seat.
Every area of the home you choose to cover adds to your monthly price, so you decide how big or small your plan is. Build your plan above and you will see the price your cover starts from. We confirm the exact monthly price with you on the phone before anything starts.
Boiler and home cover call-outs carry a £95 call-out fee, payable before we come out, and it is shown next to your monthly price as you build your plan above. Appliance cover is not priced with that fee, though the same fee can still apply on any call-out in the first 30 days of a new plan, where the issue is not covered by your plan, or if we cannot get access.
Call-outs are booked Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00, and we confirm every figure with you on the phone before anything starts.
Yes. You are billed monthly, and you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the start of your plan, which ends if a service is carried out in those 14 days.
After that, a 12-month agreement period begins the first time you use the plan. If you leave part-way through that period, you settle the rest: either the remaining monthly payments, or 75% of the outstanding balance as a one-off. (Subject to terms & conditions)
Our terms & conditions let us change the terms and the pricing of the agreement, and they commit us to writing to you two months in advance if we ever plan to do that.
So your price does not change without two months of written notice to you first.
Naturally, there are many inclusions and many exclusions, due to the complex nature of each coverage area in your home. To see a full list of inclusions and exclusions, please visit our terms & conditions.
