Is Worcester Bosch the same company as Bosch?
Yes, in practice. Worcester Bosch is the UK heating brand of the Bosch group, and the business behind it trades as Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd from its base in Worcester. That is why you will see boilers badged Worcester, Worcester Bosch or Greenstar, while the paperwork and recorded call messages name Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd. If you are checking a guarantee or booking a repair, the Worcester Bosch route is the right one.
Which Worcester Bosch boilers have been discontinued?
The Greenstar i combis, including the 25i and the 30i, were discontinued in 2020. Worcester Bosch replaced them with the current Greenstar ranges, and the 2000 is the suggested replacement for the 25i while the 4000 replaces the 30i. A discontinued model is still a perfectly serviceable boiler, and a Gas Safe registered engineer can service and repair it. Ranges change often, so check Worcester Bosch's current listing before buying.
Does Worcester Bosch make oil boilers as well as gas ones?
Yes. Alongside the gas Greenstar range, Worcester Bosch makes oil fired models, and the Greenstar Heatslave II is its oil fired combi. One practical difference matters more than the badge: gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, while oil fired heating needs an engineer registered for oil work. Check that the registration matches your fuel before anyone starts work on the boiler.
Can a Worcester Bosch boiler run on a hydrogen blend?
The Greenstar 4000 range can. Worcester Bosch publishes the 4000 as compatible with natural gas blended with up to 20 percent hydrogen. For any other model, check that model's own specification with Worcester Bosch rather than assuming, because the published figure covers the 4000. Running on 100 percent hydrogen is a different matter and would need a hydrogen ready appliance or a conversion, and there is no confirmed national switch date.
Do I have to use Worcester Bosch's own service plan to look after my boiler?
No. Worcester Bosch offers its own Contract Service Plan for an annual service, and an independent cover plan is the alternative. The one thing that does have to go through Worcester Bosch is a repair carried out under its guarantee. Smart Plan is not insurance, it is a service plan, and it is modular, so you pick the parts of your home you want covered. Its boiler cover excludes oil boilers.
