What is boiler cover?
Boiler cover is a service plan that looks after your boiler when something goes wrong. With Smart Plan you build your own cover — start with boiler cover and add only the parts of your home you want to protect. It's the smart way to cover your home, without paying for one-size-fits-all plans that aren't made for you.

What is flexible boiler cover?
Flexible boiler cover means a plan that bends to fit your home, not the other way round. Rather than a fixed package, you pick the modules you want and leave the rest. That's the heart of build-your-own cover: a home care plan made of the pieces that matter to you.
Smart Plan runs as monthly rolling cover. It's worth knowing that once you use a service or request a repair, a 12-month minimum agreement period begins, so it isn't cancel-anytime once you've used it. The flexibility is in choosing your modules, not in walking away mid-agreement.
What's included in your boiler and home cover
Across every module, parts and labour are included up to your cover limit for the work that module covers. Your cover limit is the most we'll spend on repairs or replacement for that module across a single 12-month period.
Boiler and central heating cover gives a limit of up to £500 when your boiler is under 7 years old, or up to £200 when it's over 7 years old. Plumbing, drainage, electrical, pest control and home security each carry a cover limit of up to £500. Appliance cover gives up to £225 per appliance listed on your plan.
Cover applies to the work and equipment set out for each module, and exclusions apply — please read the cover plan terms and conditions for the full detail. A 30-day initial period also applies at the start of a new agreement, and a £95 call-out fee can apply in some circumstances. See the FAQs below for when the call-out fee applies.

How build-your-own cover works
Putting together your boiler and home cover takes a few simple steps:
- Choose the areas of your home you'd like to protect — start with boiler cover and add any of the seven modules.
- Build your own cover so you only pay for the modules you choose, not a one-size-fits-all package.
- When something goes wrong, request a repair and a Gas Safe registered engineer can come and fix it for you.
- Parts and labour are included up to your cover limit for the work each module covers.
Service plan, not insurance
Smart Plan is a service plan, not insurance, and is rated Excellent on Trustpilot. It isn't insurance — just cover that comes and fixes your home when something goes wrong.
If you ever smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, leave it to the experts. Call the Gas Emergency Services line on 0800 111 999 and book a Gas Safe registered engineer — never attempt gas or electrical repairs yourself.

Is there a call-out fee?
A £95 call-out fee can apply, paid in advance. It applies during the first 30-day exclusion period of a new agreement, for issues that fall under an exclusion, where our engineer can't get access, and if you request your annual service early.

Is this flexible, monthly rolling cover?
Smart Plan is monthly rolling cover. Once you use a service or request a repair, a 12-month agreement period begins, during which an early-exit charge applies — the remainder of the agreement or 75% of the outstanding balance.
When can an engineer attend?
Unless it's an emergency breakdown, call-outs are carried out Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00. There's also a 14-day cooling-off period from the start of your plan, which ends once a service is performed.
What's the limit on appliance cover?
Appliance cover gives a cover limit of up to £225 per appliance listed on your plan, including parts and labour, across a 12-month period.
