Smart Plan cover terms at a glance
The terms behind every cover answer below. Smart Plan is a service plan from UK Boiler Company Ltd (company 09078640), not insurance, so it does not carry insurance-style protections.
- Cover limits per 12-month period: up to £500 on most modules, £225 per appliance, and boiler and central heating up to £500 when the boiler is under 7 years old or up to £200 when it is 7 years or older. You pay any shortfall above the limit.
- Cover-plan call-outs run Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00. If your boiler fails outside those hours, the earliest we can attend is the next working day.
- A £95 call-out fee, paid in advance, applies in defined cases: any call-out in the first 30 days of a new agreement, issues that fall under an exclusion, visits where our engineer cannot get access, and early annual-service requests. The first 30 days is a fee window, not a gap in cover.
- An annual service is not automatically included in cover, so arrange one separately unless your product includes it.
- One-off works run 09:00 to 17:00 and do not carry a workmanship guarantee, so they are not the same as cover.
- Billing is monthly, but a 12-month agreement period begins once you use a service. A 14-day cooling-off period applies from sign-up and ends if a service is carried out inside it.
- Leaving during the agreement period costs the remaining monthly payments, or 75% of the outstanding balance as a one-off.

What is the difference between the Greenstar 25i and the Greenstar 30i?
The number is the hot water output in kilowatts, so the 30i gives a higher flow rate than the 25i. Both are wall hung condensing combis from the Greenstar i range, which Worcester Bosch discontinued around 2020 to 2021 and replaced with the Greenstar 4000. If you already own one, the 25i suited smaller one bathroom homes and the 30i higher hot water demand. If you are replacing, compare the equivalent Greenstar 4000 output.
What is the Greenstar 4000 and how does it compare with the Greenstar i?
The Greenstar 4000 replaced the Greenstar i and Si combis, which Worcester Bosch withdrew around 2020 to 2021, so they are not alternatives you can choose between today. It is built as a like-for-like swap, with matching fixing points and pipe centres, and uses a simplified control panel with a digital display for settings and fault codes. If you are buying new, the wall-hung combi ranges are the Greenstar 2000, 4000 and 8000, with the cupboard-fit CDi Compact and the floorstanding CDi Highflow for higher hot water demand.
Which size Worcester Bosch combi boiler do I need?
Size a combi on hot water demand, not on the size of the house. A Gas Safe registered installer counts bathrooms, showers and outlets, checks your incoming mains water flow rate, and measures the heat needed by your radiators before recommending an output. Fitting a bigger boiler than the property needs does not improve the flow at the taps and can cost more to run.
Do Worcester Bosch boilers need an annual service?
Yes. An annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer is normally a condition of keeping a Worcester Bosch guarantee valid, and it keeps the boiler running safely and efficiently. Keep your paperwork or Benchmark logbook stamped each year, because you can be asked for proof if you ever make a guarantee claim. An annual service is not automatically part of a Smart Plan cover plan, so arrange one separately.
How long does a Worcester Bosch boiler last?
Most modern gas combi boilers are expected to give roughly 10 to 15 years of service when they are installed correctly and serviced every year. Hard water, a dirty system and missed services all shorten that. Once a boiler passes about 10 years old, parts availability and repair costs matter more, so it is worth weighing repairs against the cost of a replacement.
Can I get cover for a Worcester Bosch boiler?
Yes, under the boiler and central heating module of a Smart Plan service plan, which is not insurance. Cover contributes towards parts and labour up to £500 in a 12-month period if your boiler is under 7 years old, or £200 if it is 7 years or older, and you pay anything above that.
