What is drainage cover?
Drains, guttering, plug holes — it can all get a bit messy. Drainage cover is a service plan that takes care of blocked and slow-running drains around your home, so when something clogs up you don't have to sort it yourself. With Smart Plan you build your own cover and add drainage cover as one of the areas you want to protect.
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all. You pick only the cover you want and don't pay for what you don't use. When a covered drain blocks up, we'll come and fix it for you, with parts and labour included up to your cover limit.
A service plan, not insurance
Smart Plan is a service plan, not insurance. The agreement is not a contract of insurance, a guarantee or an insurance policy. It's a simple, modular way to keep your home in good working order, run by UK Boiler Company Ltd.
What's included in drainage cover
When drainage cover is on your cover sheet, your plan includes:
- Unblocking your internal and external drains by jet flushing
- Unblocking toilets
- Unblocking sinks
- Restoring flow in your waste pipes and drains by rodding and jetting
- Parts and labour included, up to your £500 yearly cover limit

How your drainage cover works
Add drainage cover to your plan and you're covered for the blocked-drain jobs listed above, up to £500 a year including parts and labour. If a drain blocks up, you let us know and we'll arrange to come out and clear it for you.
Cover-plan call-outs are carried out Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00, unless it's an emergency breakdown. A £95 call-out fee applies in some situations — for example during the first 30 days of a new plan, where the issue falls outside what's covered, or where our engineer can't get access to the property. We disclose this up front so there are no surprises.
Your plan is modular and monthly rolling, with a 14-day cooling-off period when you start. One thing to know before you sign up: once you use a service, a 12-month minimum agreement period applies, and ending it early means paying the remaining months or 75% of the outstanding balance. We'd rather you knew that now than be caught out later.
What's not included
So you know exactly where you stand, drainage cover doesn't include things like:
- Drains that aren't made of clay, PVC or concrete
- Blockages caused by negligence, misuse or the wrong objects being flushed away
- Cracked or broken tiles
- Tap replacement
- Showers and shower pumps
- Jobs where there's no evidence of a blockage
- Rainwater pipes and guttering
