Pest control cover, built your way

Uninvited guests? Don't worry, we'll sort it out for you. Add pest control cover to your Smart Plan and only pay for the cover you choose.

What is pest control cover?

Pest control cover is the part of your Smart Plan that deals with the pests no one wants in their home. If rats or mice get into your main building, or a wasps' or hornets' nest sets up where it shouldn't, we'll come and sort it out for you. Parts and labour are included up to your £500 cover limit. A £95 call-out fee can still apply in the first 30 days of a new agreement and for issues that fall outside your cover, and we'll always tell you about any fee before we attend.

Smart Plan is a service plan, not insurance. You build your own cover from our home cover modules and pick only the areas you want to protect, so you don't pay for what you don't use. Pest control cover is one module you can add to your plan alongside boiler, plumbing, drainage, electrical, appliances and home security cover.

What's included in your pest cover

Your home pest control plan focuses on the most common household pests. When they turn up, we'll arrange for the treatment so you can relax knowing it's handled.

Rodent cover

If rats or mice get into the main building of your home, your rodent cover covers their removal and treatment. It can take more than one visit to clear an infestation properly, and that's all part of the same cover.

Wasp nest cover

Wasp nest cover deals with the removal or treatment of a wasps' or hornets' nest in the main building of your home. It's the kind of job that's best left to a professional rather than tackled yourself, so let us take care of it.

Covered under your pest control plan

With pest control cover on your Smart Plan, we'll arrange:

  • Removal and treatment of rats or mice in the main building of your home
  • Removal or treatment of a wasps' or hornets' nest in the main building
  • Parts and labour up to your £500 cover limit, included
  • More than one visit where it's needed to clear the problem properly

What pest control cover doesn't include

So you know exactly where you stand, here's what sits outside your pest cover. Bees and beehives aren't classed as pests, so they're not covered. If you have a bees' nest, the British Beekeepers Association can help you find a beekeeper to relocate it safely.

Pest control cover applies to the main building of your home, not outbuildings, sheds or garages. We also can't help with pests other than the rats, mice, wasps and hornets listed above, and we may not be able to treat a repeat problem where earlier recommendations or reasonable hygiene measures haven't been followed. Your full terms and conditions set out everything that is and isn't included.

How to request a repair

Spotted an uninvited guest? Once your pest control cover is set up, you let us know about the problem and we'll arrange for an engineer to attend. Cover-plan call-outs are carried out Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm, unless it's an emergency breakdown.

A new agreement has a 30-day exclusion period from the day it starts, and a £95 call-out fee applies to call-outs requested during that period, as well as to issues that fall outside your cover. We'll always be upfront about any fee before we attend, so there are no surprises.

Good to know: Smart Plan cover is monthly rolling, but once you use a service a 12-month minimum agreement period applies. Ending it early during that period means paying the remaining months or 75% of the outstanding balance. You can pick only the cover modules you want, but the 12-month minimum term still applies once you make use of your cover.
