How to check your Baxi boiler warranty
Baxi runs its own homeowner portal, My Baxi, and that is where you check. Baxi lists "Warranty status: Check how long is left on your warranty" as one of the portal's features.
- Go to warranty.baxi.co.uk and log in, or create an account if you have not used the portal before.
- Search your documents using your boiler's serial number.
- Read the warranty certificate: it shows the product, the installation date it was registered against, and how long is left.
If your installer registered the boiler rather than you, the certificate is still there. Baxi's portal FAQ says that once you set up an account, "you will be able to view the warranty certificate for your product if it was previously registered".
If nothing comes up, the boiler was probably never registered. An unregistered Baxi boiler drops to a one-year warranty from the date of installation.
Baxi's homeowner line is 0330 678 0917, open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday and bank holidays 8:30am to 2:00pm. Every current Baxi number is listed on our Baxi contact numbers page.
What you need to hand
Two things do almost all of the work: your serial number and your installation date.
Where is my Baxi boiler's serial number?
Baxi's own answer: "The serial number can usually be found on the drop down panel on the front of the boiler. Some boilers have a tag underneath the boiler that slides out to reveal the serial number."
When you book a repair online, Baxi asks for the first 14 digits of the serial number.
For the installation date, check the Benchmark commissioning checklist at the back of the boiler's installation instructions. Your annual service records usually carry the date too.
If you cannot find either, call Baxi on 0330 678 0917 and they will help you track the serial number down.
How long is a Baxi boiler warranty?
It depends on the range. These are the lengths Baxi publishes for its current range, each one conditional on registering within 30 days, the installer completing the Benchmark checklist, and an annual service being carried out.
| Baxi range | Parts and labour warranty |
|---|---|
| Baxi 800 | 10 years |
| Baxi 600 | 7 years |
| Baxi 400 | 5 years |
| Baxi 200 | 2 years |

Two catches sit on top of that table.
- The 10 years on a Baxi 800 depends on the magnetic filter. Baxi states that on the 800 range "the magnetic filter must also be fitted and maintained for the length of the warranty, otherwise the warranty will revert to only two years".
- Miss the conditions and it drops to one year. In Baxi's words: "if the boiler warranty is not registered within 30 days of installation, the Benchmark checklist is not completed by the installer during installation or an annual service of the boiler is not carried out, the warranty will revert to the standard one year".
Older models, and Baxi's other brands such as Main and Potterton, carry their own lengths. The certificate in the My Baxi portal is the number that applies to your boiler, not a table on any website, ours included.
How to register a Baxi warranty
You have 30 days from the day the boiler is installed. On a new-build, Baxi's terms give you 30 days from the sale being completed instead.
- Register online at warranty.baxi.co.uk, or call Baxi's warranty registration line on 0800 013 7989.
- Have your serial number and the address and postcode where the boiler is installed ready.
- Keep the Benchmark checklist somewhere safe. Baxi's terms say it "must be made available to us if we ask".
Baxi's terms let either you or your installer register it, and only one of you needs to, so check with whoever fitted the boiler before you register a second time.
What keeps your Baxi warranty valid
Registration alone is not enough. Baxi's published warranty terms and conditions set out the rest.
- A Gas Safe registered installer, with the Benchmark checklist completed in full at the time the boiler goes in. Baxi's terms are blunt about it: "If this condition is not met, this warranty is not valid."
- An annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer, in line with the manufacturer's instructions. You can confirm an engineer's registration on the Gas Safe Register.
- A 60-day window either side of the anniversary. Baxi's terms say the service "can be done up to 60 days before or after the original anniversary of the boiler being installed without invalidating the warranty".
- Proof of service, and Baxi Genuine Parts. If Baxi's own service division did not do the service, "you must give us proof of service if we ask", so keep the paperwork. The terms also exclude boilers "where parts other than Baxi Genuine Parts have been used in any service or repair".
- A clean system. Baxi asks that your engineer checks the water in the heating system is clean, that sludge is not present, and that the magnetic filter is cleaned.
Book your annual service.
A missed annual service is one of the conditions that reverts a Baxi warranty to one year. Get a Gas Safe registered engineer booked in and keep the paperwork.
What a Baxi warranty covers, and what it doesn't
Baxi's warranty is parts and labour on the boiler and its integrated controls. While the warranty is in place, Baxi says it will "replace parts which were faulty from the date of manufacture, as we decide and free of charge".
What it does not stretch to, taken from Baxi's own warranty terms and conditions:
- Anything outside the boiler: "any connected system or accessories such as time switches, thermostats, motorised valves, external pumps, external expansion vessels and so on".
- "Any fault or failure in the heating system to which the boiler is connected."
- "Any damage caused by hard water scale deposits or sludge resulting from corrosion."
- "Any problems caused by inadequate supply of services such as electricity, gas or water to the property."
- "Costs of each annual service, including parts such as seals or electrodes replaced at this time."
- "Products that have been moved from their original place of installation."
- Accidental, negligent or malicious damage, and theft or attempted theft.
Baxi may also ask for a deposit, returned in full if Baxi finds a fault the warranty covers, and which Baxi may keep if nobody is home at the agreed time or the conditions have not been met. A repair under the warranty does not extend it beyond its original period. Our guide to what a boiler warranty does not cover goes through the gaps.
How to book a Baxi warranty repair
Baxi calls it booking an in-warranty repair rather than making a claim. You can do it online or by phone.
- Go to Baxi's Book a Repair page and choose the In Warranty option.
- Enter the first 14 digits of your serial number, your installation date and your last service date.
- Give your contact details, describe the fault and add the error code if the display is showing one.
- Confirm an engineer can park near the property and reach the boiler, then pick a date.
To book by phone, call 0330 678 0630, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:30am to 2:00pm.
Read the code on the display first. Some Baxi codes point at low pressure or a frozen condensate pipe rather than a boiler fault, which the warranty does not cover. Our Baxi fault code guide explains each one.
Smell gas or worried about carbon monoxide?
Do not wait for a warranty booking. Call the National Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999, open all doors and windows, avoid electrical switches and naked flames, and turn the gas off at the meter's emergency control valve if you can reach it safely. Only a Gas Safe registered engineer may work on your boiler's gas components.
Baxi warranty or Baxi guarantee?
Baxi uses the word warranty, and it means the same thing people search for as a "Baxi boiler guarantee". There is no separate Baxi guarantee product. Baxi's is a parts and labour warranty, so a covered repair should not leave you paying for an engineer's time.
Moving house: is a Baxi warranty transferable?
Yes, as long as it was registered. Baxi's position: "if you move house, as long as the warranty was registered, the boiler warranty will stay with the boiler. However, the new owner must ensure the boiler is serviced annually, so that the warranty remains valid."
Set up a My Baxi account, look for the existing certificate, and book the next annual service before the anniversary passes. The warranty applies only to boilers bought in and used in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man or Channel Islands.
What to do when your Baxi warranty ends
Once the warranty runs out, a breakdown is yours to pay for: a call-out plus parts and labour. From there you either pay per repair, take out a cover plan, or price up a replacement.
Cover for an out-of-warranty Baxi.
A Smart Plan boiler and central heating cover plan is one of those options. Parts and labour are included up to £500 if your boiler is under seven years old, or £200 if it is over seven, per 12-month period. A £95 call-out fee applies. Once you use the plan, a 12-month agreement period applies. Call-outs run Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00, and we aim to get an engineer out to you within two working days from a national network of thousands of Gas Safe registered engineers. It is a service plan, not insurance.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check if my Baxi boiler is still under warranty?
Log in at warranty.baxi.co.uk and search your document library using the boiler's serial number. The portal shows your certificate and how long is left. If nothing appears, the boiler was probably never registered, which limits the warranty to one year from installation.
How long is the warranty on a Baxi boiler?
Baxi publishes 10 years on the Baxi 800 range, seven on the 600, five on the 400 and two on the 200. All of those depend on registering within 30 days, the Benchmark checklist being completed and an annual service being carried out. Miss any of those and it reverts to one year.
What is the Baxi warranty phone number?
Baxi's warranty registration line is 0800 013 7989. For general homeowner questions the number is 0330 678 0917, and to book an in-warranty repair it is 0330 678 0630.
Does missing a service invalidate my Baxi warranty?
It can. Baxi's terms require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and if it is not carried out the warranty reverts to one year from installation. The service can be done up to 60 days either side of the installation anniversary without invalidating the warranty, so a small slip is not fatal.
Why does my Baxi 800 warranty say two years?
The 10-year warranty on the Baxi 800 range depends on the supplied magnetic filter being fitted and maintained for the length of the warranty. Baxi states that otherwise "the warranty will revert to only two years".
Will Baxi charge me for a warranty visit?
Baxi may ask for a deposit before an in-warranty visit, returned in full if the fault is one the warranty covers. Baxi may keep it if the engineer cannot get into the property at the agreed time, or if the warranty conditions have not been met. Repairs caused by sludge or bad installation are chargeable.
