Get a repair when you need one

When something goes wrong at home, you want home repairs handled quickly and honestly. Smart Plan is a service plan, not insurance, run by UK Boiler Company Ltd, who have been looking after homes since 2014. You don't need to be a member to get help with a one-off fault. Pick up the phone, tell us what's gone wrong, and we'll arrange for someone to come out and put it right.

The fastest way to get a repair is to call us on 0333 772 6247. One-off repair bookings are taken Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. A £95 call-out fee applies to a one-off visit, and we'll tell you exactly what's covered before anyone sets off, so there are no surprises.

What we can repair

We arrange one-off repairs across the same areas we cover on a plan, so you can get a single fault fixed without signing up to anything. Common jobs include:

Repairs we handle

  • Boiler and central heating faults — no heat, no hot water, leaks or error codes (handled by a Gas Safe registered engineer)
  • Plumbing problems — leaking pipes, dripping taps, overflowing or running toilets
  • Drainage and blockages — slow or blocked sinks, baths, toilets and outside drains
  • Electrical faults — tripping circuits, broken sockets and switches (handled by a qualified electrician)

What a one-off repair costs

A one-off repair starts with a £95 call-out fee, paid in advance. That gets a tradesperson to your door to diagnose and, where possible, fix the fault. One-off works are booked Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. One-off repair visits do not carry a workmanship guarantee — if you'd like ongoing cover with parts and labour included up to a set limit, a Smart Plan cover plan may work out better value over time.

One-off repair vs a cover plan

If you only have a single fault to fix, a one-off call-out is the simple option. If you'd rather not pay a full call-out every time something breaks, our modular cover plan lets you pick only the areas you want, with parts and labour included up to the limit for each module you choose.

One thing to know up front: a cover plan starts as monthly rolling, but once you use a service a 12-month agreement period applies. If you leave early after that point, you'd pay the remaining months or 75% of the outstanding balance, whichever is lower. A one-off call-out has no such commitment — you pay for the visit and that's that.

Smell gas or worried about safety?

If you can smell gas, hear hissing, or suspect carbon monoxide, do not try to fix anything yourself. Leave the property, open doors and windows on the way out, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 straight away. Gas and boiler work must always be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer — never attempt a gas repair yourself.

What you can safely check before we arrive

For a non-emergency boiler fault, you can safely check a few things first: that the thermostat is set correctly, that the boiler pressure is in the normal range, and that the reset button has been pressed — but only following your boiler's own manual. If that doesn't sort it, leave the rest to an engineer. Never attempt your own gas or electrical work.
