What is appliance cover?

Nowadays, we can't live without our tech. Appliance cover is a simple way to look after the home appliances you rely on every day, so if one breaks down, we'll come and fix it for you. It's part of a Smart Plan, our modular home-cover plan from UK Boiler Company Ltd.

With Smart Plan you don't pay for one-size-fits-all. You build your own cover and choose exactly which appliances you'd like to protect, then relax knowing they're looked after. Parts and labour are included up to your cover limit, so a breakdown doesn't have to mean a surprise bill.

A service plan, not insurance

Smart Plan is a service plan, not insurance. It's a straightforward agreement to keep your home running: when a covered appliance stops working, you request a repair and we sort it out for you.

What home appliance cover includes

Appliance cover repairs the appliances listed on your cover sheet, with parts and labour included up to a cover limit of £225 per appliance over each 12-month period. If a covered appliance can't be economically repaired, we'll put that limit towards a replacement.

Because cover is modular, you choose which appliances to add. That makes it a tidy fit for white goods cover and kitchen appliance cover alike, and if you'd like multi appliance cover you simply add each appliance you want looked after.

What's covered

We repair the appliances you've chosen to cover, with parts and labour included up to £225 per appliance. Cover includes:

  • Repair of the appliances listed on your cover sheet when they break down
  • Parts and labour included, up to £225 per appliance over each 12-month period
  • A replacement up to the value left on your cover limit if an appliance can't be economically repaired
  • Access to a national network of vetted, Gas Safe registered engineers
  • The freedom to add or drop appliances so you only pay for what you choose

What's not covered

So there are no surprises, here are some of the things appliance cover doesn't include. The full list is in our terms and conditions:

  • Damage caused in delivery, or an appliance not installed or maintained to the manufacturer's instructions
  • Faults caused by the electric, water, gas or broadband supply rather than the appliance itself
  • Routine maintenance, cleaning, servicing or re-gassing
  • Cosmetic damage, and damage to displays or screens
  • Theft, neglect, deliberate damage or damage caused by animals
  • The cost of hiring a temporary replacement while yours is repaired

How to request a repair

If a covered appliance stops working, just let us know and we'll arrange for an engineer to come and fix it for you. Call-outs are carried out Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 18:00, unless it's an emergency breakdown.

Your plan covers parts and labour up to £225 per appliance, so for a covered repair within your limit there's nothing more to pay. A £95 call-out fee can apply in certain situations — for example, during the first 30 days of a new plan, where a fault falls under an exclusion, or where our engineer can't get access. We always tell you up front, so you're never caught out.

Your cover is monthly rolling. Please note that once you use a service, a 12-month minimum agreement period begins, and leaving early during that period means paying the remaining months or 75% of the outstanding balance — so it's worth choosing the cover that's right for you.

Yes. Smart Plan is modular, so you build your own cover and add the appliances you want looked after. Just remember that once you've used a service, a 12-month minimum agreement period applies to your plan.

What isn't covered?
